Harvey Nichols Leeds SS13 fashion show

Last week I was invited along to the spring summer 2013 fashion show put on by Harvey Nichols Leeds.
The city’s grand Victoria Quarter was a fitting backdrop for some of the new season clothes from the likes of McQueen, Diane Von Furstenburg, Mary Katrantzou and Burberry.
Though undercover, the show was nonetheless outside and while the freezing temperatures made writing and snapping more difficult for me it didn’t seem to cool guests’ enthusiasm. Well, they had enjoyed a champagne reception and there was plenty on the runway to hold their attention.

(This beautiful studded sleeve dress was my favourite thing of the night and completely inspired a purchase the next day in H&M. I’m afraid that’s as close to this outfit as I’ll ever get!)

The runway show was split into five trends:
‘White out’ - purity, simplicity and neutral tones
‘Foiled again’ - metallic materials and ultra-modern fabrics
‘Colour pop’ - primary hues, pops of colour and an injection of fun
‘No limit print’ - no holding back with this display of colour and print
‘Fantasy frocks’ - described as a feminine array of styles and silhouettes from ethereal gowns to sexy power dresses
Hair was styled by Russell Eaton with make-up by MAC.
Two more things I was inspired to buy and did so almost straight away after seeing this show: a lipstick as near to neon as I dare (don’t the bright colours look great with the white outfits?) and this bright yellow clutch from Accessorize.

Great pictures lovely, I was sat further towards the store for this event so my pictures weren’t quite as fantastic as yours! I thought the whole show was a fashionable affair, even if it was a little cold.
